Our 38 year old daughter is currently living with us,in a very distressed and largely uncooperative mental state. Her's is a very long and complicated story.Due to our ages and health issues{67 and husband 69) it is very difficult to try to deal with getting any help for her and having her here at the same time. She has not worked in about a year now, having come back here at the end of July from some years away involving difficult times and a marriage and divorce} She is on Medicaid, and either way we apply,we will be seeking waiver of fees. We'd like to find someone who has experience with mental health patients, can really help her,and is willing to deal with accepting payments from Medicaid if fees are waived for her,or for us if filing involuntary. She might also need the extra step of a guardian ad litum
Some legal aid offices have volunteer attorneys who will act pro bono for guardianship applicants who meet certain income and asset requirements. Awarding guardianship and appointing an attorney ad litem or a guardian ad litem are decisions for the court.
