When I became pregnant I had contacted the biological father and he verbally told me to never contact him again. I was never married to the biological father and he has made no physical contact with me. I have been a single parent ever since my pregnancy, so I would like to know my rights as a parent. I would also like to know if I can terminate the biological father's rights since he has not been in the child's life for the past 8.5 years? To add to this, after a year after my child's birth I had moved out of state. I would like to know if it is possible to terminate the biological father's rights? Thank you and I look forward to hearing from someone shortly.
Only a court can terminate parental rights. Contact a family law attorney about applying. if possible, reserve your child's right to inherit. Also consider child support obligations.
