My trust is from out of state, is it valid in CA?

How long do I have prior to updating it to CA in case of death.

If your trust is valid in the state in which you created it, it will likely be valid in California. Nevertheless, it's a very good idea to have the trust reviewed by local counsel.  If a provision of your trust violates California public policy, that provision would be invalid - no time limit.
