I've been on Social Security Disability as a disabled adult for ten years and the State of Pennsylvania has placed a lien on a inheritance on a wrongful death lawsuit settlement of my late brother. I've been providing documentation proving my disability and a benefit of verification letter. I am currently on SSI. Ten years ago Social Security accepted my application and ten years later the state of Pennsylvania wants me to pay it back. What are my rights?
Due to state variation you should contact a local Social Security lawyer. You might try the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives.
