QUESTION

What do I do if I lost my living trust documents?

Asked on Dec 01st, 2014 on Trusts and Estates - California
More details to this question:
I moved many times in the past 18 year after I created my living trust. Now I want to amend it, I cannot find it! The only thing I could find is the certification of the trust with the trust agreement with name of the trust and my lawyer's signature as notary. What do I do now? .

I would contact the old attorney to see if they have a copy; they should. Either way a restatement of trust will cure the problem.  Contact an attorney and get this done ASAP.  If you were to die without a trust document it could be a mess.  As long as the old trust is revocable it won't be a problem to fix with a restatement. Good luck. -John
