What is the difference between guardianship and conservatorship?

What is the difference between guardianship vs conservatorship, or are they the same thing? Our father has Alzheimers and have been advised to do both to protect him and his wishes.

Generally speaking, a conservatorship grants the authority to manage a person's financial affairs and a guardianship grants the authority to manage a person's day-to-day life activities and health care decisions.

Guardianship refers to powers to direct medical care and the living arrangements for the protected person the physical care and well-being of the person. Conservatorship concerns the financial matters of the protected person.

In Nevada we refer to a guardianship to address both personal issues and financial issues. In other states like California, they use the term conservatorship to refer to financial matters. To establish a guardianship, it is necessary to commence an action in court. Guardianships are court monitored.

They are two synonyms for the same thing. In Georgia adult guardianships are done in probate court.
