I was just appointed guardian/conservator over my sister in law who has dementia and is in a nursing home. She was under state guardianship when she was placed there. I am currently employed and cant afford to quit my job to give her 24/7 care. I basically don't know where to start. Her home is getting in bad shape where it is abandoned at the time. Am I allowed to move into her home to take care of it for her so she will have a place to come back to when she can be released from the nursing home?
Consult the lawyer who represented you in applying and the court which appointed you. They should be guiding you on how to perform your duties. Please note that a guardian is not required to spend her own money (or give up her job).
