I'm settling my dad's estate from his passing. I'm at the end of closing on the estate and ran into a possible issue. My dad was a collector and had many possessions. My uncle (his dad) bought the house "As Is." The issue is that my dad had many things, including cars and a tank (yes, a small tank). I have nowhere to put all of these items - particularly within the next few months. It's a unique situation all together and needs a unique solution. I want my uncle to have/buy the home, but I want to keep my dad's possessions and have no other place to put them. I'm confident he would be glad to let me keep them there as he will not occupy the home and won't be anytime soon. Can someone experienced offer a solution so my uncle gets the home, and I can keep my dad's things there (with permission of uncle) without concerns.
It would be advisable to prepare an agreement that lists the personal property that you are retaining and put in writing that you may store them there at no charge for an agreed period of time. I can assist you preparing a document if you need help. I am also curious what model tank you have.
