More details to this question:
I would prefer that my adult children not have to deal with the management of my estate. Can the lawyer who draws up the will also assume the role of executor, i.e. selling the house, paying off debts, distributing assets as outlined in the will?

In most states, no.  Most lawyers would refuse anyway.  But in most states you can hire a trust company or a bank with trust powers to serve as your executor.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
