QUESTION

Can I put a lien?

Asked on Oct 31st, 2013 on Wills and Probate - Rhode Island
More details to this question:
I am the 1st born child and my father has neglected me since I was a baby and he was divorced by my mom. From his 2nd marriage he has 2 children whom he gave homes to. He never did anything for his 2 kids from 1st marriage, not even child support. Can I put a lien against his finances so that I can recover finances when he dies?

the only way i can imagine this happening is if you had a child support order against him and he owes on it. You can take that order and turn it into a judgment and lien his property. You would have no basis to file a lawsuit now based on him never caring for you unless he neglected to pay a support order.
