MY MOTHER AND STEP DAD WAS MARRIED FOR ALMOST 40 YEARS - HE WAS 22 YEARS OLDER THAN HER- I SAW THE WILL WHICH STATES AS SOON AS MY STEP DAD DECEASES - I TAKE OVER WHATS INHERITED- i HAVE NO COMMUNICATION WITH MY STEP DAD- AT ALL- TRIED AFTER MY MOMS DEATH - THING GOT BAD- cAN U HELP

The surviving spouse can always change the will after the first spouse dies.  There is no guarantee that the will remains the same until his death.
