Do heirs need a lawyer for estate & probate?

More details to this question:
Friend, a NV resident, recently died in NV. Estate includes: real estate in CA & NV, 3 heirs (adult children) in CA, girlfriend in NV, cannot find the will, have notarized addendum to the will.

Yes, if your friend owned real estate in CA, then you'll need to open a probate in CA even if you also open a probate in NV.
