I owned , titled and paid insurance on the car for the past 7 years. Shortly before my Father''s death, he asked for the title back, saying he was going to register it himself. It used to be his car before he gave it to me. He passed away before he could register it in his name. He left the car ( in my name at the time ) to his wife in his Will. She has possesion of the car and all it''s parts. Her attorney tells her to take the title and register it in her name. I feel it should be returned to me. Thank You for your time.

It is typical for probate attorneys to tell surviving spouses they can transfer title to cars outside the probate process; however, if the car is titled in your name only, it is not an asset of your father's estate.
