QUESTION

ESOP left with no benifeicary or will after passing

Asked on Mar 06th, 2018 on Wills and Probate - California
More details to this question:
We got a letter from the state after my father passed away stating that he had ESOP with a value of $5,400 at his last job. We contacted the employer to inherit it but said they couldn’t do much since my father never put a benifeicary. My dad never left a will and didn’t hold property when he passed away. Would you be able to help me with this matter or is there nothing I can do ?

If that is the only asset of your father's estate to transfer, then you should be able to use an affidavit procedure under Probate Code section 13100.  Contact an attorney for a full consultation.
