QUESTION

Fathers death and will

Asked on Aug 24th, 2016 on Wills and Probate - California
More details to this question:
My father, who I have been estranged from for 20 years died in 2002 (based on an internet search that I did) at a foreign US consulate. I believe he was married. I do not have any other details. I recently found out that there is a savings bond in my name which I never knew about. How can I find out if he had a Will or if I am entitled to any of his estate? Thank you.

Where did he die and where is his property?  If he lived in a foreign country, and all of his property is in a foreign country, then you will have to ask an attorney in that country.  However, if your father had property in California, then you can look in the probate court of the county where the property is located.
