How long does a will stay in probate?

Who is responsible to pay taxes on a property while the will is in probate? Does it get covered by the estate?

1. No time limit on probate.
2. The estate pays while in probate, or the person who ultimately is supposed to get it.
3. It does not have to get covered by the estate.
