How to file in probate court

More details to this question:
My husband passed sept 2 all our property has both our names on paper work except for a cd in his name and our grandsons name comes due on grandsons 18th birthday in about two years the bank is saying I will need to send my husbands will thru probate to be able to get the cd other properties even though my name is on them . How do I file paperwork or should I get a lawyer? Thank you

Hello, I'm sorry for your loss. From what you describe, you may or may not need to open a formal probate estate.  Many times when I assist clients with similar issues we are able to get things resolved more cheaply and easily than probate would be.  From what you describe it likely would not be very expensive to hire an attorney to assist you.  If you want to attempt the process yourself the Supreme Court of Ohio and Ohio State Bar Association puts out some general guidance and forms which may be of help.
