I need a probate order for my mothers unclaimed insurance money and my mother is deceased.

I am filing a claim with the department of commerce my mother is deceased and has insurance money with american general and life. The department of commerce has said they need probate order to release the funds. I don't have a clue on what to do I am the eldest daughter I have three more sisters and a brother. She had two separate policies that had 3000 plus some not exact on the amount. Please can you help me with this.

Contact a local probate lawyer. Check on the cost of probate in your state and in your circumstances. It is generally different if someone left a will. Some states also have a special procedure if little is involved. Please be aware that the cost in your state might be as much or more than the amount payable under the policies. If so, you may want to let it go.
