More details to this question:
Going through probate soon need an answer please. We inherited a house in 2002 and never went through probate. We want to get title changed soon, in 2017 or early 2018. Will court use the value of home in 2002 or 2018? We don't believe it is worth more than $150,000., so the year the worth is based on could make a difference. Can you clarify this for us. Thank you.

All property is valued as of the date of death.  If the decedent died in 2002, then you would use the fair market value as of that date.  To verify the value, you must get an Inventory and Appraisal from a probate referee in the county where the house is.  Contact an attorney for a full consultation.
