During our divorce, I signed a quit claim deed over to my ex wife. The quit claim deed was processed, so the deceased spouse now own the property. Prior to her being able to refinance the house to take my name off it, she passed away, leaving me as the non owner but still responsible for the mortgage on a home, I no longer own. Is there anything I can do?
A quit claim deed does not pass title. It merely notes that someone is quitting his claim to a right to use property, such as an easement. Talk with a local residential real estate lawyer about cleaning this up.
