If home has not gone through probate can the occupant insure it.

More details to this question:
I have lifetime use of the house it has not gone through probate yet if I don’t insure it there is no protection of this asset is it legal for me to get insurance on the home?

The executor, one appointed, is responsible for maintaining insurance prior to distribution.  You are responsible thereafter.  Depending on the circumstances, an insurance company may be willing to issue insurance (paid for by you) before probate.
