I have high function autism. My parents conserved me at the age of 17. They argue that I'm too incompetent to care for myself. Everyone else in my life will argue against this. They insist that I see a therapist. I have held a job as an equine handler. I am a certified vet assistant. I have taken classes in college. I live alone in an apartment. I see no reason for them to be telling me what to do anymore! For what it's worth, my mom.. in many ways... is less independent than I am. She hasn't worked a regular job in a decade. She says she cares but never sees me. I am owed a stimulus check, but I don't think my parents ( who manage my finances), have sent in the tax forms yet.. I am perfectly able and capable of paying my own bills. The only reason I don't is because my parents insist on doing so.. I would like to join the military, but I can't because of the conservatorship. It is also blocking me from getting a paying job again after the pandemic! Help!!! - Thomas Melton
