More details to this question:
Grandfather's death has left me a sizable inheritance , some when I turn 26 in 4 years and the balance much later when I am 50. What happens to the inheritance should I die before obtaining the benefit? Would my will determine it ?

Grandpas will should have trustee language as to what happens if you die before payment. Obviously, someone or some institution is holding this money in turst for you. You shold ask them if there are any trust provisions which address such a situation.  If they don't know, my guess would be that it is your money once disbursed to the trust account and upon your death would go to the persons named in your will.
