QUESTION

Is there an online will that will exclude children from a previous marriage?

Asked on Feb 18th, 2013 on Wills and Probate - Colorado
More details to this question:
Want to exclude my husband's children from a previous marriage- one is deceased and the other we want to exclude from his will since there has been no contact with her and she is not entitled to any money that was earned by both of us for the last 45 years. Also, does his former wife have any claim to his will? Do we need to go to an attorney? Other than this it should be a simple will leaving everything to each other and then to our children after we both are gone.

Any time you are specifically disinheriting children it is a good idea to go to an attorney. It is not expensive to have an attoreny prepare a will and it is definitely much cheaper than a court fight over a will later. With an on-line form, you need to be very careful about how you define "children," again, especially when you are disinheriting children and when there are children from prior marriages in general to be sure the planning accomplishes your goals. I hope this helps.
