More details to this question:
My uncle passed away in March and left all nieces/nephews money in his will. His son, whom I haven’t spoken to in years, reached out and asked for my social security number. No one will explain why this is needed. I’ve tried contacting the lawyers directly, but they give me the runaround and everything just seems fishy. So my question is, shouldn’t this be something that comes from the lawyers and not via Facebook message?

First, no one needs a beneficiary's Social Security number in order to make a distribution.
Second, if the son is the executor, the son, not the lawyer, is responsible for making the distribution.
Third, most states require a formal notice to a beneficiary, enclosing a copy of the Will and of the Order admitting it to probate.
Fourth, none of this should ever, ever, ever be occurring over social media.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
