How can I go by getting a copy of his life insurance and who do I need to talk to about it, when I called the insurance people ask for my step mother on the phone when im the only one on the beneficiary. And how can I go around the insurance people mailing things to my house instead of hers she has her own and she doesn't wanna give me what I am suppose to have which is the policy.. She won't even give me his social security number after she had told me that she had misplaced the policy and I know she is lying about that. I just feel like shes going to try to do something on her own n get away with it
If you are the beneficiary of your father's life insurance policy, the life insurance company should talk to you. If you are not, they should not. Are you sure that your father did not change the beneficiary to your step mother?
It is not at all clear why you would need your father's social security number. The widow's social security benefits are affected by his death. Yours are only if you are a disabled adult child who was disabled before and after age 18 and your father applied for SSDI on your behalf in your early 20s.
