My mom's mother passed 10 years ago and the property was left to her husband her step father. He has passed and now his biological son is trying to take ownership of the property because he is the biological son of the step father. All the deeds are in my mother - mothers and my step father names, does the biological son take ownership of all even if my mother- mothers (my grandmother) owned all as well? Thank you
If your mother left the property to her husband by Will, it is his to do with as he wishes, including leaving it to whomever he wants by Will or allowing it to pass to them through the Tennessee laws of inheritance.
In some states, but not necessarily Tennessee, children of a previous marriage inherit their mother's share while the stepfather keeps his.
