QUESTION

Probate - Executor isn't responding

Asked on May 12th, 2021 on Wills and Probate - Washington
More details to this question:
Probate issue- In question is an estate in Snoqualmie, WA (King Co.) My mother's separate estate from my dad. My dad is the default executor of her estate. I am one of 4 siblings, entitled to 1/8th value of the property that was her separate estate. My dad's attorney was reminded of this by the lawyer who was assisting with the ending of the guardianship. She is too busy to take on a probate litigation, but, I will need an attorney, likely. Neither my dad, nor his attorney are responding. I will need a consultation to explain.

They have zero duty to respond to you.  In most states an heir or benefiiciary is not even entitled to demand an accounting until over a year after the court has appointed an executor or administrator.  This gives that person time to gather the assets, file the final tax return and pay at least some of the creditors.

This is general information. It cannot substitute for a personal consultation with an attorney. It is not intended to be legal advice or imply an attorney-client relationship.
