Siblings have to sign a consent to probate a will?

More details to this question:
Big family with many siblings, but only three were named beneficiaries. Why does the other siblings have to sign a consent to probate the will when they weren't named in the will?

It is the law.  They are next of kin.  Next of kin must consent to probate.
