what all needs to be included on the assets inventory

More details to this question:
A 1999 auto was given to a friend of the deceased. Nothing put on paper. A the time the deceased could not find the title so it was never transferred to the new owner. I have now found the title. Does this need to be in the assets inventory or can it be transferred as a verbal sale.
