My brother died on 2/1/2021 at home in Neenah WI. - He left no wife, no children, no will. Our parents died nearly 20 years ago, and other than me, the only living relatives are on our mother's side of the family, that being an Aunt & Uncle, 3 cousins, and one cousin has 3 kids. My brother left behind 2 vehicles (one is financed) a house (with a mortgage), a snowmobile w/trailer, an older Harley w/title, a utility trailer, 2 storage units full of wood and woodworking tools, as well as a house full of the normal household items. According to the statements we've found in the house he left behind roughly 50k cash. I believe there is safe deposit box at his credit union, but that has not been validated yet. I am a disabled Vet, and live in White Bear Lake, MN. Traveling is an issue for me. At the moment there are close family friends looking after things in Neenah.
You need a probate attorney who practices in the county in which your brother died to help you present an application for determination of heirship and appointment of administrator of the estate. During the pandemic being unable to travel may not pose an issue: many courts are operating by Zoom, etc.
