QUESTION

What can I do about a trustee who will not give me my inheritance?

More details to this question:
My girlfriends dad died in a plane crash when she was 13. He left her and her brother about a million dollars a piece. Her uncle moved in to raise them and became trustee. She is now 30 and has 2 kids and is needing the money so she can complete her nursing program. She was supposed to recieve installments of 333,000 when she was 20,25, and 30. She asked her uncle and he says its gone and he gets very ill when approached. He is still living in the house that Her and her brother own. Is there anything that can be done? This seems like stealing to me.

Every state has a Surrogate Court. If there was a will it had to be brought there to be "probated" and dispose of assets. Since you say there is a trustee, this appointment was established in that court. Your girlfriend, as a beneficary of that trust can bring an action in that court for an "accounting" of the trust funds.
