More details to this question:
I live in one state and my father lived in another. He passed away. Only blood surviving family is myself and a daughter. His wife has already passed. There is a step daughter. What advice would you have on the house that he owned? Not sure if there is a will or not. The daughter (which is younger than I) won't say anything much to me.

You do not say where your father lived and died. That is the county in which the Will should be probated or, if there is no Will, an heirship proceeding shoul take place.
