My mother passed away in 2009. My stepdad was the beneficiary of everything; I received nothing. My stepdad passed away recently; he has two biological children. There is a house with both my mom and stepdad's name on it. In the absence of a will, do I have any rights to the house/estate?
If your stepfather was the beneficiary of everything under your mother's Will, everything passed to him and, when he died, to the beneficiaries of his Will or, if he had no Will, to his heirs. The probate lawyer may want to file a Distribution Deed conveying your mother's interest in the house to your stepfather.
If your mother had died without a Will, you might have inherited some of her estate.
