My father-in-law has a will. He wants to make a couple of changes to it without having to pay $500. Can he type up something with the changes he wants to make and he go to a notary and sign it and get it notarized and attach it to the current will?

This type of DIY with a Google degree in law is likely to cost his heirs 10-20 times as much to fix after his death as opposed to if it was done right to begin with.
Would your father inlaw takes his appendix out while reading a manual on how to do it? Likely not!!
