Can i file a workers compensation claim after being terminated?

Asked on Oct 19th, 2014 on Workers Compensation - Florida
More details to this question:
I injured my hip and my back as a result of 3 1/2 years of picking up heavy weights off of the gym floor, at the direction of my company. I have not slept a full night over the last several months, due to throbbing in my hip and back. I also cracked a tooth lifting a very heavy weight.

You certainly may file a claim after being terminated or leaving employment for any other reason.   There are a couple of notice and Statute of Limitations issues that you should be aware of.   Under Florida law and injured employee has thirty days to notify their employer of an injury arising out of an accident at work.    In addition to the notice requirement, a claim must be brought within two years or be forever barred by the statute of limitations.   There are many instances where the notice requirement may be waived such as the employer having actual knowledge of the accident and injury.   We would be happy to speak to you in more detail.
