My employer is refusing to pay minimum wage. I've been trying to get reimbursed for three months, they've only released partial reimbursement. Theyre threatening to release me for being sick, and they want me to cover more responsibilities than my titled position requires. I've worked for many companies, but never have I felt so humiliated, and thoroughly treated like garbage. This isn't the 30's anymore. I'm a college student, I volunteer my time to charities, and I am an intern. I need this job as only a stable source of income until my career position is available upon completion of my degree. However insignificant this job may be to my future career goals, I don't think its fair that I should have to go through the pain and suffering of working for less than minimum wage, and to add insult to injury, my employer wants me to just "suck it up". For three months I've been fighting this myself, and now I need a professional to take this opportunity to end this on my terms.
It is certainly against the law to pay an employee less than mininum wage. If you can prove this with documentation, then you most certainly have a claim. You should speak to an attorney who is an expert in labor law issues. best of luck.
