QUESTION

What options do I have concerning the Injury I sustained at work?

Asked on Aug 02nd, 2011 on Workers Compensation - Iowa
More details to this question:
Three months ago, while working at my job, I tripped over a pallet and took a pretty hard fall. Since that day, I have been suffering from moderately severe to severe pain. Work Comp. has been paying me for lost time and has been taking care of all of my medical needs since then. Today however, I went to the doctor to discuss my MRI results. I have been informed that the injury I have sustained will require surgery to correct. What if any legal action should I pursue in this matter? I spoke with my Work Comp. coordinator today to inform her of my doctors prognosis. It seems that as soon as she heard the word surgery her entire attitude changed. I feel I may be in for some sort of aggravation in the immmediate future. Any and all advice you could give would be most beneficial.

It is not unusual to have to obtain an attorney even though Workers Compensation is currently being paid. Often, as the writer stated, the attitude changes when more money must be expended by the insurance carrier, and we will sometimes see valid claims being denied.  An attorney can be instrumental in cutting through the redtape.
