QUESTION

Possible CTN (Civil Theft Notice)?

Asked on Nov 09th, 2020 on Lemon Law - Florida
More details to this question:
Friend I know (ex-friend) sold me his van for $1k. No sales agreement. Gave him the $1k and he gave me the van. This was on a Friday. I was going to the DMV on Monday to register (8Florida). The next day, I discover the windshield wipers don't work and then the transmission acts up. I try to return it but he will not give me my money back. All correspondence of the sale was via text. I also discover the vehicle is not even titled under his name. Believe it's his parents. So he sold me a vehicle he does not own. Do I have any legal recourse?

Possibly - but it will certainly cost you equal to or more than the amount in dispute. If his parents signed the title then the title is good, you may want to see if you can get it titled in your name and then spend your money on repairs.
