I was fired from a job, they denied me unemployment, which I requested an appeal. The company I worked for did not show up to the appeal, but I found out I was denied because they stated I was violent with a patient by grabbing them through the collar. I was never told the reason I was fired nor was I shown the video which would confirm what they've accused me of. Because of their accusations and denial, I am close to being evicted, back on rent, and back on other bills. I need to know if this is something I can pursue as deformation of character?
This does not sound like a defamation of character case. Were you a contracted employee or were you an employee at will? If you were at will, they can fire you as they see fit provided there is no discrimination due to being a member of a protected class.
