More details to this question:
I started with a company in September. Everyone works remotely, there is no office, anywhere. There was no handbook provided and lots of verbal promises made, it was my fault for not getting them in writing. I am attempting to get the written policies that were in place before I started. The company has been in operation for over 8 years. The company, prior to me starting observed the traditional nonbanking holidays. I have been asking for a list of holidays since I started, I was just informed "We will likely only be closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Independence day is on a Saturday. If you want/need other days off please let me know and we will handle as needed. We have latitude for personal days off but I'm not into making a bunch of holidays just because they are federal or other holidays. Just discuss with me when you have need. " He says this is the policy because we all work from home. Does working from home have a direct impact legally on this policy

You have set for us multiple complex legal issues. Initial question is whether or not you are an employee? Are you an employee? Are you an independent contractor? Do you receive a W-2? Do you receive a 1099?are you an exempt employee? I would recommend that you hire us or another labor law firm to research these issues and to provide you with a written legal opinion. Without the proper research, any answer would be a guess.
