There is a time period in which you have to file an EEOC charge, and then after
making a timely filing, EEOC will then do their own investigation and you will be issued a right to sue letter by that agency such that you can bring a civil action against your employer. It is always best to speak with a lawyer about the various time periods that apply to your case, as every case is unique.
