No.  Attempting to force someone to change a beneficiary is against the law.  The person needs to freely make changes to beneficiaries and needs to be of a sound mind. The person cannot be under any duress or pressure to change beneficiaries.  The fact that you are a caregiver for the ill person would likely equal duress.  This would be illegal.  If you have ever done such a thing before with your position, I recommend you turn yourself in as you likely committed an illegal act and took advantage of someone who depended on you. If you get caught driving with insurance, you will likely be issued a ticket with a fine associated with such.  You will have to go to court and either pay the fine or prove that you had proof of insurance at the time you got the ticket.  Also, this scenario can arise if you are involved in an accident and don't have insurance.  Also, auto insurance also protects you by having uninsured motorist coverage.  Thus, if you are ever involved in an accident with someone who has no insurance or less insurance than you do, it is likely that your uninsured motorist coverage would pay for your injuries.  It is in your best interest and the best interest of other drivers that you get the insurance coverage that is mandated by the law in your state.  Since you did not provide your specific state, I cannot provide you any other information regarding such, but I am sure that it is against the law to drive with automobile insurance in your state so I recommend you do your best to get insurance.  NOTE:  This response is general in nature and should not be considered legal advice.  No attorney-client relationship exists or is formed by this response. ... A better route to take would probably be to file a HIPPA complaint. Check out this website more information on how to do that:  http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/complaints/index.html  In order to file a lawsuit you will need damages and I suspect that your damages are probably not very high as a result of this and thus, the costs of litigating a potential lawsuit will likely outweigh any potential recovery.  Best of luck. If you have your own insurance to cover this claim you should first proceed through your own carrier.  Then, if you do not I would suggest contacting an attorney who handles property damages claims.  Generally, a personal injury lawyer can do that.  He/she can review the claim and determine your rights. immediately fix whatever it is that is causing the mold buy more insurance in case it happens again in the future for the past, do the best you can with the $10,000 from the insurance you have, assuming they have already been notified by you and they have looked at the damage and agreed to pay you the $10,000 you mentioned your AC was worked on while you were gone, was whoever worked on your AC negligent in not properly fixing the AC and is that why you have the mold, if you current damages are more than the $10,000 the insurance should pay you, you may have a claim against your AC company  ... Since you ended up getting the amount you and the insurance company had agreed to, I would leave it at that.  It is likely that the amount that was on the release was just a typo or they forgot to add your amount and the amount that was on there was from another person.  I think that since  you agreed on the original amount and that is what you received, that should be sufficient.  I do not think you would be successful in suing over the difference.  You could try to work with the insurance company to see if you could come to some type of agreement, but I do not think that you would be successful in a court of law because you and the insurance company had already reached an agreement over the amount, and that is the amount you were provided.
