If you make a defamatory statement in an email which you send to third parties (I'm not saying that what you wrote in your email is, but some of it might be considered defamatory) you can be successfully sued for defamation.  The disclaimer that "the information in the email was not meant to defame the person" would not shield you.  However, if what you wrote is true, it cannot be defamatory.  Also, only statements of fact are defamatory, not statements of opinion.  Arguably, your statements were merely statements of your own opinion.  Also, although there are exceptions to the rule which may apply here, generally a person must be able to show actual money damages in order to win a defamation suit.  Did this person suffer any such quantifiable damages as a result of your email?... It would be better for you to hire an attorney who can do everything through the court system. For example, if I, who happens to be a California Attorney, were your attorney I would first get the GA warrant removed either by telephonic hearing or by having my associate counsel in GA execute the task. You provided insufficient info to answer. Records are never wiped. Can't use a gun implies you have a lifetime firearms ban because of felony conviction. Or it could be a 5-10 year ban on some misdemeanor convictions or restraining orders. While the general rule is Records are forever, some CA convictions can be 'expunged' from criminal records by proper application and Petition to the court, but ONLY IF there was no felony prison time sentenced whether served or not, and if it was not for certain listed sexual crimes, and if all terms of sentencing and at least one year of probation are completed, and if there are no new charges pending. If successful, the conviction would be withdrawn and the charges dismissed. Expungement does not wipe, clear , 'remove', erase or disappear the conviction, but does change the record to show an arrest with 'conviction reversed and charges dismissed by expungement'. The conviction is still a 'prior' or 'strike' for purposes of repeat offenses. Expungement does not restore firearm rights lost because of conviction. Expungement will help in obtaining employment. When applying for a job in the private sector, in response to any question concerning your prior criminal record, you may legally deny that you were arrested or convicted of the offense. Check with your lawyer or the clerk of court to find out exactly what orders are in effect as to the placement and custody of your daughter. It does not appear that you have provided all of the information. Are you now suing, or threatening to sue, the other investors? Was the omission of the "asset" intentional or inadvertent? As a school official, your better option is to direct your inquiry to USCIS regarding this student. But if the student involved has changed his status from F-1 to H-1B, then, he is no longer in F-1 from the date the change was effected by CIS. He is authorized to work legally in the US, but then only for the company that filed the H-1B petition for him. If this student was the principal of the F-1 visa, then, the F-2 visa for his spouse, his also terminated since the spouse' F-2 would also have been simultaneously changed from F-2 to H-4 dependent ....
