Calvin,   You can file for SSDI but I strongly recommend that you see a medical professional right away.  Without he proper diagnosis and documentation you're chances for success are slim.

No.  SSDI is "Title II Disability" that requires her to have worked 5 out of the last 10 years and paid in FICA taxes. You say she has not worked.  So she would not be entiteld to SSDI. Thus she may only entitled to "SSI TItle XVI" which is income/asset based.  At $95K per year your income is well over the income qualification line.  Thus she would be disqualifed from SSI as well.... From the title, it sounds as if you were denied.  If so, read it carefully.  The date on the letter is important and it will advise you that you have 60 days to appeal.  If your conditions are expected to keep you  from working for 12 months or more, an appeal sounds appropriate, and make sure you appeal on time.  You can do it online https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/iAppeals/ap001.jsp You may want to check with someone in your area that does disability work as more facts are really needed in this post.  ... " is what the work comp attorney has advised you.  Have you hired the work comp attorney to do the Social Security Disability case?  Because the topic has come up, you want to make sure that you have not signed anything that would put you in the position of having two attorneys on your Social Security Disability case. It is perfectly fine to have an attorney for work comp and another for Social Security Disability.  There is no requirement that the Work Comp claim be completed before the claim with SSA is filed for disability.  As a matter of courtesy, advise the work comp attorney of your intentions so that the two claims can be coordinated between the two attorneys....
