Why is my license suspended?

Answered 2 years and 6 months ago by attorney Diane Buerger   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
It is not possible to tell, by the information you provided, why your driver's license was suspended.  You should re-read the 20-day Notice letter that you received from the DMV - Florida Dept. of Motor Vehicles and Highway Safety (i.e., the letter notifying you of the suspension) to see if it states the reason. Otherwise, you should be able to go to your local DMV Office in person.  You may have to make an appointment.  That office should be able to explain why your driver's license has been suspended and how to get it reinstated. The following are among the usual reasons for driver license suspensions in Florida: 1.  too many traffic tickets (i.e., too many points) within a set period of time; 2.  DUI; 3.  leaving the scene of an accident; 4.  failure to pay child support; 5.  failure to appear for a court hearing and pay a court fine; 6.  failure to pay a traffic ticket; 7.  lapse of vehicle insurance 8.  medical     ... Can I countersue from an auto accident?

Answered 2 years and 9 months ago by attorney Stephen Arnold Black   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
Yes, it looks like you may have a claim against the driver who you feel was negligent. Police reports are not dispositive of civil liability. You should consult with an attorney here in the state of Florida for  contingency fee representation, which means you don't pay anything, unless you win. Also, under the PIP law here in Florida, accident victims must seek medical attention within 14 days of the accident to preserve their personal injury protection benefits in their insurance policy.      ... My husband just got arrest for veical manslaughter what can i do

Answered 8 years and 6 months ago by Mr. George Lawrence Sandefer (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
Vehicular homicide is a very serious charge.  If he is not  going to get or keep a public defender you should cotact a criminal defense attorney immediately and he should not talk to anyone until he does that.  I would look for a board certified criminal trial attorney to insure that the attorney has the background and experience to handle a serious charge such as this.  You can find one in the county you live in by doing an online search or calling the local bar assocaition.... In Florida a lawyer cannot represent any individual without either written or verbal consent. In the case of an auto accident typical for a lawyer to represent an individual that individual will need to sign an Authority To Represent Contract along with a Statement of Clients Rights. If an attorney has contacted your insurance company or the insurance company of the at fault driver and claims to represent your father and you have not given that attorney consent to represent your father, then you need to let the insurance companies know that attorney does not represent your father.  You also need to contact that attorney and let him/her know that you have not contracted with them to represent your father. ... Can an officer other than the one that pulled me over issue a ticket?

Answered 12 years and 5 months ago by attorney Mr. Jonathan Hackworth   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
It sounds as though you may have a good defense to the ticket if the writing officer didn't actually see the violation. I recommend you hire a ticket attorney to assist you in the matter. My firm handles tickets routinely and offers free case consultations. Good luck
