Answered 12 years and 2 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
That is a better question to ask of the Judge who granted the Limited Driving Privilege.  You might try sending him a letter. This answer does not create an attorney/client relationship.

Traffic tickets in Missouri?

Answered 12 years and 2 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
The speeding ticket is a class A misdemeanor, the range of punishment is up to one year in the county jail and/or a $1000 fine.  The careless and imprudent driving is a class B misdemeanor, the range of punishment on that is up to six months in the county jail and/or a $500 fine.  He definitely needs to get an attorney.  Since he's active duty, the PA may take that into account. What should I do about my speeding citation that I have to appear in court for?

Answered 12 years and 2 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
You have three options it sounds like.  You could hire an attorney and probably not have to go to court and try to get the ticket amended.  You could mail in the fines and court costs which would result in points on your driver license.  Finally, you could show up in Court and try to get the Prosecutor to reduce the charges. Got a ticket for no valid proof of insurance today on a car that is not insured.

Answered 12 years and 3 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
You need to see about getting the ticket fixed.  If you do not, 4 points would be assessed to your Missouri Driver License.  If you get 8 points in 18 months, you lose your license for 30 days and have to maintain high risk insurance.

I was put onto SIS for running a stop sign and causing a wreck. But, my insurance still went up because of the accident.

Answered 12 years and 3 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
Probably not.  It sounds like the insurance company raised your rates without considering the outcome of your Stop Sign ticket.  This is typical, since the insurance company had to pay a claim to the other party on your behalf. Hope this helps.

Will the traffic points add to my name or to my license?

Answered 12 years and 6 months ago by Andrew Dean Popplewell (Unclaimed Profile)   |   1 Answer   |  Legal Topics: Traffic Violations
The failure to registure a vehicle charge is a non-moving, no-point violation.  A first offense no valid operator's license ticket is a two point ticket.  In Missouri, if you get 8 points in 18 months, your privilege to drive is suspended for 30 days.  You should definitely get your driver license if you are eligible.  A lawyer may able to help you avoid two points on your license. Depends on what you were charged with.  If the charge is careless and imprudent driving, then yes, that woud be a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, and/or a $1000 fine.  If the other driver was hurt, you could be looking at a felony vehicular assault charge.  In either event, you should retain counsel. First you would need to call the Missouri Department of Revenue, 573-751-4475, to determine exactly what is on your driving record and from what jurisdiction.  Then you would need to contact an attorney in that jurisdiction to find out the likelihood of either setting aside a plea of guilty or appealing a conviction.
