Mr. Bergeron, if you want to sue big tobacco for COPD related to cigarette smoking, certain elements must  be established pursuant to the case of Engle v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.: 1) You must prove that the person was addicted to cigarettes; 2), you must prove that the cigarette adiction caused one of the smoking-related illnesses specified in the original Engle case (COPD is enumerated.) 3)  You must establish that the illness was discovered or diagnosed by November 21, 1996. Is it legal for a 16 year old to be dating a 27 year old?

16 is the age of consent and while there relationship is baffling, as long as there is parental consent, there will likely be no trouble...in Connecticut.  I do not know the laws in California. I would advise that they should both find more age appropriate people to see, she being a child and the 27 year old being an adult who should be able to find appropriate company that has hopefully finished growing and going through puberty at the very least. ... The law may be different in Ct., but in New York, your only recourse is against the GC you dealt with.  You have no right to place a lien against the owner's property unless either (a) you dealt with the owner directly (it's not enough that the owner approved your work); or (b) the owner owes money to the GC, in which case your lien would be valid only to the extent of the money the owner owes the gc....
