Perhaps it is not what you think it is. Call the local Bar Association and ask for their Lawyer Referral Service, and make an appointment to speak with a competent workers comp lawyer. Have the lawyer explain what comp is all about and whether or not you qualify. Typically, if you are an employee of the company (as opposed to working for a temp agency, or are a sub-contractor or are self employed), and if you become ill or injured, and if the illness or injury arises out of the employment, then you would be entitled to benefits.
