How do I collect a judgment against my ex-husband.

The lien would have gone away if the bank's lien was senior to it. The collection of the claim may depend upon how the judgement and decree are written.  If you want someone to look at the judgment and decree and advise you on your options, we'd do it at no expense to you.

They can start the collection process when ever they want.  This seems a little harsh. You have enough problems getting on your feet right now.  I cannot think of why this would not be discharged in a bankruptcy case.  If you are interested in filing, call us, or some one else that will do more than just process your petition. You need a bankruptcy lawyer to look at your special issues.  Not a paralegal to just look at your bills. Like most firms, we don't charge for the first meeting, and we'd be able to answer this question if you wanted to meet and show us anything you have in your possession regarding this claim.... Generally, property is abandoned if notice to remove and six months pass.  The problem may be getting the title changed.  Is the car worth $1500?  Maybe he'll just transfer the title to you.  Otherwise, you could sue and get a judgment, and execute on the car.  That is a lot of work and money.  ...
